The Malawi High Commission in Dar es Salaam has seven strategic objectives which cover both the technical and support departments. These include:

Promote sound bilateral relations with countries of accreditation;
Safeguard the interests of the Government of Malawi in countries of accreditation;
Secure sustainable markets for Malawian products and services in the countries of
accreditation;
Attract tourists and foreign direct investment from countries of accreditation and the global
community;
Safeguard and promote the interests of Malawian Diaspora other countries of accreditation;
Promote multilateral and regional relations and also mobilize external resources in the form of
capital and technical assistance;
Increase the capacity of the Mission to effectively fulfil its mandate.
The Malawi High Commission in Tanzania was opened in 1985, following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malawi and Tanzania. Located in Mikocheni area in the city of Dar es Salaam, the High Commission is guided by the Mission to promote Malawi’s political and socio-economic interests through proactive engagement and development diplomacy.
It is the only Malawi Mission that is located in a city with a seaport that is extensively used by Malawi for her imports and exports. The Mission in Dar es Salaam is also accredited on a non- residential basis to Rwanda, Burundi, Seychelles, and the Comoros.
