Presentation Of Credentials To President Pierre Nkurunziza Of The Republic Of Burundi
On 5th April, 2016, Her Excellency, Hawa Olga Ndilowe presented her letters of credence to President Pierre Nkurunziza, as Malawi’s Ambassador to the Republic of Burundi on non-residential basis.
During her discussions with President Nkurunzinza, she conveyed brotherly greetings from His Excellency, the President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, and the government and people of Malawi to President Nkurunziza and the people of Burundi. She stated that as members of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Malawi and Burundi can cooperate in a number of sectors especially in the areas of agriculture and trade. She noted that a formal cooperation agreement would be necessary to facilitate the sharing of experiences among various sectors between the two countries.
In his remarks, President Nkurunziza welcomed her to Burundi and alluded to the warm bilateral relations that exist between the two countries. He stated that Burundi and Malawi have great potential to cooperate and support each other in international forums. He pointed out that since both countries have an agricultural based economy, they can learn from each other and share best practices.
After presenting her credentials, Her Excellency Ndilowe also held discussions with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of External Relations and International Cooperation, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Investment, Posts and Tourism and the Minister of Human Rights, Gender and Social Services.
